Day 1 Paro - Haa
You will travel from Paro to Haa, a beautiful valley on the border with Tibet. This valley was only opened to tourists in 2002 and is not widely visited. It is a beautiful two-hour drive through the highest motorable pass in Bhutan, the Cheli La (3988 m), which is always dotted with prayer flags. From here you have a beautiful view of the snow-capped mountains and the imposing Jhomolhari (7314 m), the highest peak. The Haa Valley is surrounded by mountains that are considered sacred by the Bhutanese like Ap Chhundu, the guardian of the valley. Today you have the option of walking to warm up your legs for the coming days. You will spend the night in Bangana.Day 2 Haa - Womji (7-8 hours trekking)
Today begins the trek from Bangana. You'll cover 13 km today. The trail gradually climbs up through a dense forest of rhododendrons and conifers. Eventually you will come to the Tale La Pass (3780 m) where you have a beautiful view. After three hours of light walking you will arrive at Tshojo, the first yak-herder camp on this trip, where you will stop for lunch. In the afternoon you will climb further up to the Gochu La Pass (4200 m). From there you will walk for a while along a ridge before descending to the campsite at Womji, another yak-herder camp (3750 m).Day 3 Womji - Tshonapata (8-9 hours trekking)
Today you will cover 17 km and cross two high passes. You begin with a steep climb up to the Gochhi La Pass (4200 m) where you have a spectacular view of the Tshejala Mountain Chain. As you descend from Gochhi La you will pass several yak-herder camps, and, in the spring, this area is dotted with colorful flowers. After lunch you will start climbing to the Tsheja La Pass (4300 m). The path follows the old trade route to Tibet. You will spend the night near Lake Tshonapata (4150 m).Day 4 Tshonapata
Today is a rest day at Lake Tshonapata. You can do some hiking in the area, see the yak herders around the lake, and go trout fishing.Day 5 Tshonapata - Tsojo (8 hours trekking)
